Arsenal to make last-minute transfer grab for Man Utd midfielder Herrera on free from under PSG’s noses

Spaniard has been on the verge of agreeing a move to the French champs, but the Gunners reportedly will try to hijack the deal

ARSENAL could make a last-minute attempt to snatch Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera away from under Paris Saint-Germain's noses.

The Spaniard, 29, has reportedly been on the verge of sealing a free transfer to the Ligue 1 champs this summer.

Herrera's contract with United expires at the end of the season, but both sides have been unable to come to an agreement over its extension - even though the player wanted to stay at Old Trafford.

And, as SunSport revealed last month, PSG swooped in trying to lure the versatile midfielder away from Manchester with a hefty salary package.

But according to L'Equipe, Arsenal will try to hijack the move with a last-ditch attempt to sign Herrera.

Gunners coach Unai Emery is reportedly a big fan of the Spaniard and can see in him a replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey.

But it is unlikely the North London side will succeed in their efforts.

Recent reports claim Herrera has already agreed to move to Parc des Princes after being offered a £150,000-a-week deal by PSG.

He all but confirmed his Old Trafford departure recently telling Diario ABC: "As it is right now, Manchester and I are not thinking alike."

Herrera has been one of the key figures in the Red Devils team since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Despite enduring some fitness problems the Spaniard has played in 26 games for United this season, scoring three goals and adding three assists.
