HARRY KANE has been blamed for his potentially season-ending ankle injury.
The Spurs striker, 25, was caught by Fabian Delph's follow-through as he cleared the ball down the line.
And while Mauricio Pochettino thinks the Manchester City man was lucky to dodge a red card, many reckon Kane's wild challenge was the issue.
BeIN Sports pundit Peter Schmeichel said: "As soon as the foot goes down he turns over and then Delph goes on top of it.
"I don’t think Fabian Delph does anything wrong. This is only the third game that’s been played on that pitch and we’ve actually seen players slide a bit so maybe the pitch isn’t 100 per cent there.
"I think it’s wrong of him but this is what he does, he’s such a hard worker out there. He should be further up the pitch."
While colleague Ruud Gullit added: "It’s Kane’s fault. He goes in wild, to do what."
The pundits' view has been backed on Twitter with one City fan writing: "Was never Delph’s fault, Kane come flying into that challenge."
While a Spurs supporter added: "I know we love him for it, but Kane is going to have to learn to let chasing those lost causes go, if he wants to have a long career."
And others shared a clip of the Simpsons in reference to Kane's desire to play NFL once he retires.
Spurs boss Pochettino spoke to Delph after the final whistle, and revealed afterwards what he said.
He explained: "I was talking with Delph about the situation.
"He was upset and aggressive with Harry after the action and I tried to make him understand that it wasn’t intention from Harry or him to damage each other, it was just a tough action.
"Harry twisted his ankle, he touched the ball and then he stepped on his ankle. I said to him ‘you are lucky because it was checking on the VAR and technically it was maybe a red card’.
"But I think both were fighting for a ball and had no intention to damage each other.
"The conversation was very friendly. Nothing more, no problem between us."
