BOSS Neil Warnock is considering stepping down at Cardiff in the summer, whether or not they beat the drop.

It would mean the straight-talking Yorkshireman ending his tenure at the Cardiff City Stadium a year earlier than contracted.

His current deal is due to expire in 2020.

And Warnock has experienced a hugely draining season.

The tragic death of £15million January signing Emiliano Sala in a plane crash and the Bluebirds’ Premier League struggles have taken their toll.

The former QPR and Crystal Palace chief revealed he had considered quitting following the striker’s passing, claiming it left him “shattered”.

It remains to be seen if Warnock, who has bossed 15 CLUBS in a near 40-year managerial career, would retire from football completely if he leaves Cardiff.

If this is to be his last season in the game, he is unlikely to go out on a high with his side five points from safety with just six games to go.

Cardiff play relegation rivals Burnley on Saturday in a huge clash for both sides.

They then travel to FA Cup semi-finalists Brighton before a tough test at home to Liverpool.

Warnock's Bluebirds round off the season with games against Fulham, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
