PAUL INCE has issued a warning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over his blip at Manchester United and declared the “honeymoon period” over.

Solskjaer had an unbelievable start to life as interim boss at United, winning ten of his first 11 games before suffering defeat to PSG in February.

However, Ince claimed he would have delivered exactly the same results if he’d been made boss instead.

And he even went as far to claim that making Solskjaer manager on a permanent basis would be a huge mistake.

Ince’s outbursts invited derision from most, including pundit and ex-Man Utd star Rio Ferdinand.

But Ince eventually conceded Solskjaer did deserve to land a three-year contract at the Theatre of Dreams.

INCE AND REPEAT

However, things haven’t been looking so rosy for United recently, losing three of their last four matches in all competitions.

And Ince reckons their slide could end their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Solskjaer told : “They need to be picking up results, especially when they’ve still got the likes of Man City to play if they want to make those Champions League spots.

“Ultimately, Man United have to be in the Champions League. It’s simply not good enough if they’re not.

“Don’t get me wrong, Ole has done a fantastic job in getting them to this point, but they need to finish the job off.

“They cannot afford to be without European football next year. In fact, United should never not be in that competition.

“No disrespect, but they should be attracting the biggest players and the biggest players don’t want to play in the Europa League.

“The team should be doing everything they can to make top four, and the Wolves result seems particularly poor because of that.”
