PEP GUARDIOLA thought "ah s***" after title rivals Liverpool scrambled to a last gasp win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Toby Alderweireld's 90th minute own goal put Jurgen Klopp's men back on top - just as it looked like Manchester City would be in the clear.
Guardiola said: "When you see them you say 'ah s***' but after five to ten minutes you think nice challenge.
"It is an incredible team to fight against them. Nobody said it would be easy, nobody.
"We knew it, I knew it. It is a better challenge. After a while you say it would be amazing what we are going to live.
Liverpool and City have opened up a huge gap on their top six rivals in recent weeks - and Guardiola says that shows what his team have achieved already.
"WE'RE EXCITED"
He said: "On Monday, I saw how good Arsenal play, incredible manager Unai and incredible distance that we have, it is because we have done incredible so far.
"Everybody is excited for what we are going to live in the next weeks.
"It is not so complicated to understand that but at the same time, say, wow, it is amazing to live this opportunity and beat Cardiff.
"The main target to come back top of the league and six games left.
