CARDIFF boss Neil Warnock has cheekily claimed he'll "fine his wife a week's wages" for her condoning his "thump the ref" comment in the wake of his side's disappointing Chelsea loss.

The Bluebirds led the West Londoners until six minutes from time – but he was left raging after an equaliser arrived through a blatantly offside goal.

Chelsea went on to seal victory in injury time to leave Cardiff five points adrift of safety ahead of their relegation crunch clash with Burnley on Saturday.

Warnock then said he would have thumped ref Craig Pawson for denying them at least a point in the game - to which his wife claimed she would have allowed it.

Now the Cardiff boss has joked he will dish out a fine to his other half, speaking during his pre-Manchester City press conference.

Warnock claimed: "I had to tell her off, I fined her a week’s wages if I'm honest because she can't say things like that.

"CAN'T CONDONE THAT"

"So I told her she's going to have to calm down or I'll report her to the FA.

"I don’t regret it, it’s my wife, she says what she wants.

"I would imagine she said what 30,000 Cardiff fans would have said. I can’t condone that and so that's why I took action against her."

Despite the drama, it has now been confirmed Warnock will not be fined or charged for aggressively staring down Pawson and his assistants after the game.

But the boss did revealed he will speak to the FA if needed, adding: "I’m sure they'll ask for my observations and I'll send them.

"I'd imagine people in the FA feel sorry for me if I'm honest."

Cardiff take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in their next outing.
