The 23-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield when his contract expires in the summer

A LIVERPOOL fan wearing a Paris Saint-Germain hat at Anfield has been forced to deny he is Adrien Rabiot after Reds fans got excited over a potential transfer.

Jurgen Klopp's side secured a 2-1 victory over Spurs to return to the top of the Premier League and one high-profile star appeared to be sitting front row for the action.

Rabiot, who has been linked with Liverpool after being banished by PSG, was "spotted" in the Anfield crowd after cameras panned to a doppelganger supporter.

The Frenchman, who last featured in Ligue 1 in December, is widely expected to leave in the summer when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires.

However, it's not as certain that he'll be switching Paris for Merseyside as many fans believed, as the man in question is actually Liverpool supporter Connor Deane.

He tweeted: "I can confirm Adrien Rabiot was not at the game today it was me sorry to ruin the party up the f****** reds."

But that didn't stop the man himself from finally responding, as the midfielder reacted on Instagram with a smiley face emoji and the words: "Great ahahaha."

Rabiot is understood to be a wanted man in the summer, with Manchester United also believed to be vying with Liverpool to snap him up.

But they both face competition from London giants Arsenal and Chelsea who are looking to bolster their midfield at the end of the season.

While it has also been reported that Tottenham were interested in his services, but the player rejected a move to link up with Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The 23-year-old has endured a difficult spell in France recently, after he was spotted partying at a nightclub just hours after his club crashed out of the Champions League.

Rabiot further incurred the wrath of PSG fans for liking Patrice Evra's video celebrating United's win in the stands and was suspended by the club for two weeks for his actions.

He was also fined £150k alongside Kylian Mbappe last month for turning up late to a team meeting, and called in for talks by the club's board about his behaviour.
