And as he took his seat in the dug-out, Twitter users believe they saw him hit back at a supporter.

The Toffees left the London Stadium with the points thanks to first-half-strikes from Kurt Zouma and Bernard.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have lost three of their last five but sit comfortably in 11th.

Arnautovic is struggling to win over the Hammers faithful after having his head turned by a mega-money offer from China.

The striker’s popularity with supporters took a huge hit when he looked to secure a £300K-a-week Shanghai SIPG deal in January.

And he took the incredible step of making personal calls to Irons fans in an attempt to get them back on side, as exclusively revealed by SunSport.

Colourful Arnie decided a series of heart-to-heart chats with punters could help mend the wounds by putting his side of the story.

He sent out messages to selected fans on Instagram and once contact was made called them up to offer a full explanation of the situation in an frank conversation.

Arnautovic scored twice for Austria in a 4-2 defeat by Israel on Sunday but he has not hit a goal for West Ham since an FA Cup win over Birmingham on January 5.

He has signed a three-year deal since the China links but speculation will continue as long as his relationship with the fans is in the spotlight.
