England captain wants Spurs to prove they can compete in the search for trophies but admits finances may make things difficult
HARRY KANE has warned Tottenham: I’ll only stay if you show ambition.
Spurs plan to move into their new £850million stadium next Wednesday against Crystal Palace.
Real Madrid have been long admirers of the England skipper, and Kane has made no secret of his desire to add silverware to Tottenham’s trophy cabinet.
But the striker, who will be 26 in July, fears the cost of the new stadium will limit Mauricio Pochettino’s spending and ability to compete with Europe’s best.
Kane said: “A lot of people look at it and say this is maybe the best team we’ve had, maybe the best team we’ll ever have, and the best manager, but it’s important that we have something to show for it.

“It’s not just, when we look back in ten years, we had a great team. It’s, ‘Look what they did. Look what they won.
“The challenge for us is, can we keep going up and up and up? It’s going to be difficult in the next couple of years with the stadium and the finances.
"We’ve done so much in a short space of time. Of course we want to go on to the next level, win the Premier League and win trophies.
“We’ll just have to see what happens this season, and go from there.”
