Man Utd ‘join transfer battle to land Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi’

SunSport understands United boss in waiting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hold off any urge to strengthen his defence as he searches for a right-sided attacker

MANCHESTER UNITED have joined Bayern Munich in the race for Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to reports.

Bayern made the Chelsea winger their No1 priority in the winter, but saw all three of their bids rejected by Stamford Bridge chiefs.

According to , United have set their sights on Hudson-Odoi as interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer searches for a right winger.

SunSport understand the United boss in waiting will hold of any urge to strengthen his defence as he searches for a right sided attacker.

Old Trafford chiefs will hand their manager £80million in the summer, with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho top of the wishlist.

However, if the 18-year-old, who started on the right in England's 5-0 Euro qualifier win against the Czech Republic on Friday, wishes to stay in Germany, it is understood Hudson-Odoi is the alternative.

The Blues forward lodged a transfer request in January, attempting to force through the move to Germany, though Chelsea remained firm in their decision to hold on to the ace.

The 18-year-old has played just 274 minutes of football for the Maurizio Sarri's side this term, netting four goals in his eight Europa League games.

With the arrival of Christian Pulisic from Dortmund next season, Hudson-Odoi could again face time on the bench.

Blues bosses have offered him an £85,0o0 week deal to extend his contract, which expires in 2020, though the teen will demand a guarantee of first-team football.

But with Chelsea’s potential two-year transfer ban imminent, and Eden Hazard’s future in doubt, no sale of Hudson-Odoi will be rushed.
