His moment of magic at the training ground quickly proved to the boss that he made the right decision.

To pull off the perfect Panenka penalty, the player must trick the goalkeeper and then chip the ball down the centre of the goal.

It was invented by Antonin Panenka in 1976 and has been used by the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Andrea Pirlo.

And Sancho oozed confidence when tried the tricky technique for himself in front of the England squad.

After he found the net, England's official Twitter page tweeted a photograph of Southgate giving Sancho a round of applause.

The caption read: ";The boss was impressed with that one, @Sanchooo10! #threelions."

And the boss is not the only star in the England camp that has been blown away by Sancho's ability at training.

Speaking about a Manchester City training session, Raheem Sterling said: "The first day I'd seen him training with us, I was really happy to see such a talent.

"I always knew he'd become the player he has, for sure. From minute one.

"I was playing right-back one day in pre-season training and he spun me and I nearly did my back in."
