Sterling teases Hudson-Odoi on Twitter after Chelsea starlet earns England call-up
Man City star teases his new international squad-mate for not even having a verified Twitter account
RAHEEM STERLING was quick to tease Callum Hudson-Odoi after the Chelsea teenager’s surprise England call-up.
Manchester City star Sterling joked the winger was still so wet behind the ears he had made Gareth Southgate‘s squad even before his Twitter account had been verified.
Sterling tweeted: “Not even Twitter certified & already called up… what a life you’re living bro 😂❤️ welcome 🙌🏾.”
The 24-year-old’s followers enjoyed the message, one saying: “This is why no-one hates Raheem. Class act as per.”
Hudson-Odoi, 18, jumped straight from the Three Lions Under-19s to the senior squad today after injuries to Fabian Delph, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, John Stones and, now, Luke Shaw.
Bayern Munich still hope to land him in the summer as so far this season he has played just 119 minutes in the Premier League under Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.
And Twitter joined Sterling in hailing Hudson-Odoi‘s rapid rise.
Sterling’s greeting met with this response: “Need more of this from the squad, keep lifting that morale. Top stuff Raheem.”
Meanwhile, City fans speculated that their own England U-19s star Phil Foden could be next to make the leap into Southgate’s plans for the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
Another fan said of Hudson-Odoi: “He’s really earned his place. Fair play to the lad.”
But a few had a gentle warning for Sterling over his Three Lions’ place, with comments like: “He’s better than you bro.”
