MANCHESTER United and Liverpool are among 11 Premier League teams keeping a watchful eye on Benfica superstar Francisco Ferro.

A host of scouts from England's top flight were in attendance to watch the Portuguese side take on Dinamo Zagreb in their Europa League clash on Thursday night.

And the trip would have been worth the effort after the 21-year-old defender scored in extra-time to send Benfica through.

Jonas had levelled the tie, Ferro took range from distance and curled a wonderful strike into the bottom corner.

It was the perfect moment to score the first European goal of his career which may have just earned him a switch to the Premier League.

, Wolves, Everton, Watford, Tottenham, Leicester, Fulham, Newcastle and West Ham and Manchester City all sent scouts to watch him in action.

Ferro is making his breakthrough season in Portugal and has featured just four times in the league.

But he has been a key figure in their Europa League run playing his part in two clean sheets from four matches.

He recently penned a new contract extension until 2023 and reportedly has a whopping £85million release clause in his contract.

Benfica will also face an uphill task of keeping talented left-back Alex Grimaldo. 

The defender is wanted by Arsenal and Man City in a £26million summer switch.
