Liverpool flop Karius slammed by Besiktas boss who admits loan has been a disaster
The goalkeeper joined on a two-year move last summer after his Champions League nightmare but has endured a torrid time in Turkey
LORIS KARIUS' escape to Turkey has taken another turn for the worse with his own manager revealing he would drop the German if he could.
The goalkeeper, 25, joined Besiktas on a two-year loan deal last summer after his nightmare in the Champions League final with Liverpool.
But after struggling to rediscover much form for the Turkish side, things have got even worse.
And now Besiktas boss Senol Gunes has blamed him for his side not keeping clean sheets, saying he has not integrated and "something is wrong".
But with club captain Tolga Zengin unavailable to replace him, the Turkish side are stuck with Karius.
Gunes said: "He was at fault for the goals he conceded. Karius has gone a bit stagnant, something is wrong with his electricity, motivation, enthusiasm for the game.
"It has been like that since the beginning. He does not really feel a part of the team, it's something we haven't been able to work out and, of course, I am partly to blame for this.
"Something is wrong, he has also been unlucky. [He] is talented but it hasn't worked out and we have a problem. Let me put it this way, if I still had Tolga available I would play him."
Besiktas were twice pegged back against Konyaspor before Shinji Kagawa scored a 93rd-minute winner to spare Karius' blushes after the German was at fault for the first equaliser.
Konyaspor had just three shots on target in the match with Besiktas remaining 13 points behind league leaders Istanbul Basaksehir.
Karius' own fans heckled and jeered him for the rest of the game and some reports even suggest the loanee asked to be subbed off at half-time.
Then Gunes publicly criticised him for the first time since joining on loan.
Any hopes Karius had of resurrecting his Liverpool career appear to have been dashed now that Alisson has moved to Anfield, meaning it could be a very long two-year loan for him.
