Arsenal’s Gedion Zelalem joins MLS club Sporting Kansas City on a free transfer
MLS side Sporting Kansas City have completed the signing of Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem.
The 22-year-old midfielder has joined the American outfit on a free transfer after six-years at The Emirates.
Zelalem has penned a one-season contract that includes an additional two-year extension option.
Sporting head coach Peter Vermes said: “Gedion is a talented player and we are excited to welcome him to the club.
“We look forward to his integration into the squad as the team competes in multiple competitions throughout the season.”
Zelalem, who was born in Berlin before moving to USA as a child, joined Arsenal aged 15 back in 2013.
He enjoyed a loan spell at Scottish giants in the 2015/16 campaign and went out again to Dutch club VVV-Venlo the following season.
But despite representing Arsenal in the Champions League, a serious knee injury hampered his progress as he failed to establish himself in Arsene Wenger’s first-team.

He will have been hoping to reignite his Gunners career upon Unai Emery’s arrival last summer but he has not made a single appearance under the Spaniard.
Now the US youth international is heading back across the Pond and could make his debut against Colorado Rapids on Monday.
