'KEEP COOL'

Rashford scores first ever Man Utd penalty despite Lukaku being on pitch and on a hat-trick

Hero insists he 'wanted to take it' and it's 'the type of thing you practice in training every day' as his last-ditch spot-kick fires Red Devils into the Champions League quarters

MARCUS RASHFORD showed nerves of steel to seal another historic comeback for Manchester United at Paris Saint-Germain.

Having trailed 2-0 from the first-leg, nobody gave the Red Devils a prayer in France, but the striker had other ideas.

With everyone around him losing their heads, the star fired home a late penalty to secure a famous 3-1 win and a place in the Champions League quarters.

The 21-year-old has already demonstrated his spot-on finishing from 12 yards for England in last summer's World Cup victory over Colombia.

But the hotshot had never been handed the responsibility for his club - until the dramatic dying seconds at Parc des Princes.

Rashford told BT Sport: “I just thought to keep a cool head. It’s the type of thing you practice in training every day.

“I wanted to take it and we got the goal and now we progress.”

The pressure mounted even further on Rashford as a number of PSG stars delayed the kick after an already lengthy stoppage while the referee checked VAR.

The United hero said: “The wait for the penalty is probably the hardest thing but we all live for these moments in these games and hoping to smile after.

“Everything was against us but we are used to surviving in these moments and we proved that one more time. We can still improve and better ourselves though.

“It’s a beautiful thing. We had 10 players injured but for the youngsters it’s a great chance for them. They’ve been training everyday and it’s what they deserve.”

Romelu Lukaku was on a hat-trick when the controversial late penalty was awarded.

But despite having the opportunity to claim the match ball for the second-straight game, he had no qualms about handing the responsibility over to his strike partner.
