Chelsea fans jubilant as Jorginho scores belter against Fulham
Midfielder has come under fire for lack of assists but showed he can still be a Premier League hit with fine performance in West London derby
CHELSEA fans are over the moon after Jorginho scored a blaster against Fulham on Sunday.
The midfielder has come in for criticism after failing to record a single assist at his new club.
But Jorginho showed that he can indeed do the business the Premier League as he fired Chelsea ahead in the West London derby at Craven Cottage.
Gonzalo Higuain had put the Blues in front before Calum Chambers levelled the scores in the first half.
However, after pulling the strings in midfield all day long, Jorginho soon popped up with a rocket from outside the box to give his side a 2-1 advantage.
It was a great response from a player who had come in for criticism from pundits and some fans after a £50million move from Napoli in the summer.
Jorginho’s new role at the base of the midfield saw N’Golo Kante pushed wide, and many were unsure if he was the man required to shield the defence while also dictating the tempo of ‘Sarri-ball’.
The midweek win over Spurs saw Jorginho set a new record for the most passes in a Premier League season without an assist.
But he now has another goal to his name thanks to his blaster against the Cottagers.
And Chelsea fans flocked to Twitter to express their delight at his impact in the derby.
One said: “Jorginho masterclass so far, dominating that midfield.”
Another tweeted: “What a hit from Jorginho!”
One wrote: “Jorginho is running this game.”
Another added: “Jorginho has been class the last few games.”
