AMERICAN tech giants Hudl are helping Premier League's elite managers stay ahead of the game with their revolutionary video tools.

Their Sportscode and Replay programs, that are designed to be used together, allow managers and club analysts to watch all the action live from the bench on their mobile device or tablet.

That means bosses can now analyse a game visually, rewind key moments and make changes that could affect the match.

Hudl made the move into football, approaching the world's biggest teams after FIFA approved the use of pitchside technology by coaches in May, 2018.

NFL and the NBA franchises have already been using it to improve their tactical decisions.

And most recently, Twitter users got a glimpse of the Sportscode program in action when John Stones was filmed being shown his remarkable clearance off the line against Liverpool after Man City's vital 2-1 win by City's video analyst.

Users can also see vital match stats during a game

Sportscode is being used by ALL Premier League and Championship clubs, every Bundesliga club and a handful of La Liga and Serie A sides as a video recording tool.

It provides the user with all the stats needed during a game - including tactics, match stats, individual player stats and can even be used to analyse opposition.

And now Hudl are trialling their Replay program that works alongside Sportscode, putting clubs' analysts further to the test.

Currently being used by dozens of Premier League clubs, analysts can now splice together clips and data for managers, rewinding what they believe to be key moments during a match in a tidy video package.

Coaches will be able to react to what they learn during the game, including changing tactics

Coaches and managers can then access that info and make an informed decision in changing their tactics.

Hudl's Paul Neilson believes Replay could completely revolutionise the way managers coach their teams during games.

“Tactically, the game is increasingly interesting,” he told .

“Playing styles and formations are changing during the game, and any insights that you can give the coaching staff to help them with their decision making is something that clubs are seeking.

“That’s what we’re trying to enable with Hudl Replay. We’re trying to give them more actionable insights through video and data, when they need it most which is while a game is actually taking place.

“If you have your analyst in the stands coding the game live using Sportscode, Replay allows you to drive specific clips so the analyst can be in contact with the coaching staff and give them very specific examples of things they might want to review during the match.

Thanks to Hudl, clubs don't have to wait till half-time for their coaching staff and analysts to communicateCredit: PA:Press Association

“This process has happened anyway at half-time for the past four or five years so you’ll often find there is communication between the analysts and the coaching staff, who may be wanting to show the players certain clips at half-time.

“But what is changing now is that you have the ability to affect the game in real time, and that’s a big change for football. People are wanting this, they don’t want to have to wait until half-time, they want to be able to make decisions during the game.”

It seems now that managers won't have any excuses if they make a wrong decision!
