CHELSEA have reportedly been given a huge boost in their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot after Barcelona apparently withdrew their contract offer to the Paris Saint-Germain star.
Rabiot will leave the French champions on a free transfer this summer when his Parc des Princes deal expires.
He has since been dropped to the PSG reserves by Thomas Tuchel.
But that has not stopped a host of clubs from battling it out for his coveted signature.
Barcelona are believed to be leading the chase after closing a mega-money deal for Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong.
But Spanish newspaper Sport claims they have now withdrawn their initial contract offer after discovering they cannot afford to pay Rabiot’s wage demands.

That has apparently opened the door for Chelsea, who have become a shrewd business club in recent years under Roman Abramovich.
The opportunity to sign a player of Rabiot’s calibre for free is too good to turn down.
And he could be the man they desperately need in midfield to carry the ball into attack.
Whether Rabiot is interested in a move to Stamford Bridge remains to be seen, and he is sure to wait until Barcelona come back with a fresh offer before exploring any further options.
