Crisis-club Arsenal want director of football NOW with Overmars and Monchi in frame

Former chief executive Ivan Gazidis left to join AC Milan, while Sven Mislintat has left his position as head of recruitment

ARSENAL want a director of football to save their season NOW.

The crisis-hit Gunners have spoken to frontrunners Monchi and Marc Overmars and are preparing to make an appointment immediately.

Unai Emery’s side suffered humiliation against BATE Borisov in the Europa League this week and face a battle for a top-four place.

Appointing a supremo behind the scenes at the Emirates is seen as a way to stabilise them after turmoil in the last year.

Arsene Wenger’s departure after 22 years as manager was followed by chief exec Ivan Gazidis leaving for AC Milan.

Head of recruitment Sven Mislintat also leaving has indicated the new regime at the club is struggling - and getting a new director of football in is seen as essential.
