As the referee finally regained control, Lambert, 49, was then sent off.

The Ipswich boss, who of course used to manage Norwich, was not happy with a challenge by Joe Nolan on Max Aarons.

He first remonstrated with Norwich head of performance Chris Domogalla, and was then involved in an ugly bust-up with goalkeeping coach Ed Wooten.

As he pointed his finger at the opposing dugout, a police officer ushered him away from the flare-up.

On the pitch players from both teams were involved in a shoving match as referee Peter Bankes temporarily lost control.

Once things had calmed down, Lambert was sent to the stands, as was Norwich's Domogalla.

But Lambert wasn't finished there as he remonstrated once again with Domogalla as the pair made their way into the tunnel.

The whole thing appeared to amuse Norwich boss Daniel Farke, who was caught on camera winking.
