Bayern Munich ‘in love’ with Callum Hudson-Odoi as they plot summer move for Chelsea ace
Winger failed to secure Bundesliga switch in January but could be set to join at end of the season
BAYERN MUNICH admit they are “in love” with Chelsea prodigy Callum Hudson-Odoi.
And the Germans add they will continue their pursuit of the youngster into the summer after failing to land him in January.
It’s believed Bayern offered Chelsea as much as £40million to bring Hudson-Odoi to Bavaria last month.
The winger is yet to even start a Premier League match after joining Chelsea’s academy at just eight years old.
But Bayern believe he has the potential to become one of the best in world football.
It’s clear that Chelsea think that too, as they told the Bundesliga champions there would be no chance of a winter deal.
Hudson-Odoi himself wants out and even handed in a transfer request to force through the move.
He has less than 18 months on his contract and this summer could prove to be vital for his future development.
Bayern remain keen on sealing Hudson-Odoi’s signature, and are sure to step up their pursuit at the end of their domestic and European campaign.
CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “The only one that (sporting director) Hasan Salihamidzic would like accomplished would have been that player at Chelsea.
“He fell in love with him and his qualities.
“I would not deny now that the offensive pursuit in London did not come off well.
“Do not forget that Salihamidzic also had to signal to the player somewhere, although he did not have direct contact with him personally, because that’s not allowed.
“But the player had to get a signal if Bayern Munich is standing behind him. It is a topic of the future that we will tackle in the coming months and decide accordingly.”
