Stoke’s ex-Barcelona ace Bojan can still leave for MLS as US window remains open
New Potters boss Nathan Jones rejected a deadline day approach from West Brom for the two-time Champions League winner as he wants the star to help with a late promotion push
STOKE CITY star Bojan’s move to MLS side New England Revolution is still on.
The playmaker has been offered the chance to almost double his wages by the MLS side.
And a potential deal remains on the table with the USA transfer window open until May 1.
Ex-Barcelona attacker Bojan is on £27,000-a-week with the Championship Potters – but New England Revolution are willing to give him a £50k weekly salary.
But their boss Brad Friedel, a former Premier League goalkeeper with Blackburn, Aston Villa and Spurs, could face a fight to land the 28-year-old.
New Stoke manager Nathan Jones has made it clear he wants to hold on to the two-time Champions League winner.
He rejected a deadline day attempt from West Brom and shut out other interest in the ace as he targets a late promotion push.
Bojan, who is a firm fan favourite, is also happy to stay and fight for his place back in the side after being frozen out by recently-axed boss Gary Rowett.
EXCLUSIVE Leeds plot swoop to bring ex-England star back to Elland Road
Now after recovering from a virus, he returned to the starting line-up yesterday but was unable to stop Stoke from slipping to defeat at Hull City.
That left Stoke nine points off the play-offs, and if they miss out on an instant return to the top-flight then the Spaniard is likely to be one of the first out the door as the cost-cutting kicks in.
