Everton boss Marco Silva ‘threatens to quit’ if chiefs sell Idrissa Gueye to PSG
Silva is desperate to keep his squad intact and will hope the board has not gone behind his back and sold the ex-Aston Villa man
MARCO SILVA has sensationally threatened to quit Everton if the club goes through with the sale of Idrissa Gueye to Paris Saint Germain, according to reports.
The Toffees rejected the French champions initial offer, but have now reportedly agreed a £26million deal for the midfielder, who wants out of Goodison Park
The potential deal gives Silva just a day to find a potential replacement for the 29-year-old who has made it clear he wants to move to the French capital.
PSG are determined to bolster their midfield options again despite bagging Chelsea target Leandro Paredes from Zenit St Petersburg this week.
Gueye was left out of the squad for last night’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield, but the club insisted his absence was due to a knock.
And after the win at the John Smith’s Stadium Silva said: “After the match I tried to find out if something new has happened because I expected your question and there’s nothing new.
“No new offers and hopefully he can continue with us.
“I don’t know about a new offer or not. Nobody has told me. We were in the hotel last night preparing for the game, fully focused on the match.”
Silva has endured a tough first season on Merseyside and with the pressure on after a huge summer outlay of £85m, he will be desperate to get through deadline day with his squad intact.
