Cardiff City admit concerns about Emiliano Sala after plane goes missing on route to Wales
CARDIFF CITY admit they are growing increasingly concerned about the welfare of new striker Emiliano Sala.
Argentinian Sala has gone missing after a light-aircraft he was believed to be travelling on disappeared from radar on Monday night.
The 28-year-old striker had been due to take part in his first training session with the Premier League club this morning following his club record £15million move from Nantes.
Sala was in France to collect belongings and say his farewells to his Nantes team-mates before embarking on his new life in South Wales.
The forward even posed for a final photo with the Nantes squad, which he posted to Instagram with the haunting message "The Last Goodybe".
But having been expected to journey to Cardiff last night, a light aircraft which was believed to be carrying him and one other person, lost contact with controllers over the Channel Islands.
Guernsey police say coastguards have resumed the search for the Piper Malibu plane this morning but as yet there are no sightings.
And Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman admits it is a worrying time for the club as they anxiously wait to discover news.
Dalman said: “We are very concerned by the latest news that a light aircraft lost contact over the Channel last night.
"We are awaiting confirmation before we can say anything further.
