Elneny has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after struggling to impress under the management of Unai Emery.

The 26-year-old has played just once in the Premier League this season when Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1 in December.

And the 67-cap Egypt international dropped a huge hint that his days in North London are numbered when he posted two tweets.

Speaking to his 3.52 million followers, he said : "Three years ago, on this same day, I joined the Arsenal family. I call it family, because it is how it's like to be here at Arsenal.

"I'm grateful for every single moment during those three years, the tough moments and the many happy ones.

"I'm grateful for the one of a kind fans, for the coaches, for the colleagues who became real brothers, for everyone.

"I'm grateful for the past and I'm very much looking forward to the future."

Fans on social media immediately jumped to the conclusion that he will leave the club during the January transfer window.

One said: "This really does sound like it could be goodbye. So sad for you. Never really given a chance. Good luck whatever your future is."

Another added: "Why does this feel like a possible goodbye, love you as a player but I think you would thrive in another team given an opportunity to play more."

While another concluded: "His post seems like he's leaving... but either way this guy is underrated."

Elneny's former coach in Egyptian football, Hamdy Nouh, urged the 26-year-old to leave the club in pursuit of first-team football.

He told : "He needs to leave Arsenal in the next Arsenal transfer market, at least on loan to play more and regain his confidence."
