THE spy caught watching Derby's training session yesterday was a Leeds United employee, according to the Rams.
Derby - who face Leeds tonight - have today released a statement confirming the "suspicious male" spotted over the fence was an Elland Road staff member.
Derbyshire police last night claimed they found a man lurking by a fence with binoculars, pliers and a change of clothes.
Now Derby have confirmed the spy spotted at their training ground yesterday morning was in fact a Leeds employee.
The statement read: "Derby County Football Club can confirm that officers from the Derbyshire Constabulary were called to the Derby County Training Centre at around 11:20am on Thursday 10th January 2019 following reports of a man acting suspiciously outside the premises.
"It has since been confirmed to Derby County that the individual concerned is an employee of the footballing staff at Leeds United Football Club.
"The club is now in discussion with Leeds United club officials in relation to this incident.
"At this time no further comment will be made."
The Leeds employee caught was NOT arrested last night, but police are still continuing their enquiries.
Derby have, however, lodged a formal complaint to the Football League over the clearly unsportsmanlike incident.

Last night, a Derby Constabulary statement confirmed: "A man was found at the perimeter fence of Moor Farm training ground and spoken to.
"Officers conducted routine checks which were all above board.
"Despite media reports, no damage to the fence was found, and the man was stopped outside the grounds.
"No arrests were made and the man was sent on his way."
Derby travel to Leeds in the Championship at 7.45pm tonight, with the hosts looking to extend their lead at the top of the table, with the Rams occupying the final play-off spot.
