MANCHESTER UNITED have been handed a major boost with Paul Pogba fit to face Tottenham.

The in-form French midfielder was a doubt to take on their fellow Champions League hopefuls following a knock he picked up against Newcastle following a studs-up challenge from Jonjo Shelvey.

Pogba was forced to sit out of United's FA Cup victory over Reading at the weekend.

But interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has declared he is in contention after coming through training unscathed.

He said: "He (Pogba) looked okay towards the end so he'll be fit. He did have some problems but came through the last couple of sessions well."

Pogba was late to join the party as his team-mates jetted to Dubai for a spot of warm weather training.

He remained in Manchester for extra treatment before linking up with the rest of the squad on Monday.

Pogba was then pictured taking part in training on Tuesday as Solskjaer continued to give positive updates on the midfielder.

Solskjaer faces a shortage of options in defence this weekend, with Marcos Rojo set to be sidelined for longer than anticipated.

The Argentinian was sent home to continue his recovery in Manchester, which is a blow for Solskjaer as Eric Bailly is suspended for the Tottenham trip while Chris Smalling has a sore foot.

Solskjaer said: "Marcos has gone back home because his injury is taking a bit longer than we thought."

Fred was given permission to stay in Manchester as his wife is heavily pregnant.
