The striker claims his dad is a dead ringer for the worm-eating, 4-4-2-loving Clarets gaffer.

And he hilariously has the ginger boss’ grinning mug on his left shin-guard, alongside the motivational quote: "What I expect is maximum effort."

The striker explained that he has Dyche's face on his shin pads because his dad looks like the Burnley boss and the joke just kept going.

It started with his dad sending him pictures of his mug before games, for some motivation — and reached a brilliant next level with customised shin guards.

Former Crewe starlet Nunn — who joined Chelsea at Under-16 level — said: "My dad was never really big on football but he does look like Sean Dyche, which has become a bit of a long-standing joke between us.

"He even started sending pictures of him to me before every game as a sort of good luck message, which I know sounds a bit weird.

"My phone would go off in the changing room at Crewe and it would be a picture of Sean Dyche.

"Now, instead of him messaging me all the time, I have Dyche’s face on my shin pads!"

The young striker signed his new deal alongside his family on the same day team-mate Tino Anjorin signed his first pro contract.

Nunn said: "It's a great moment to spend with my family and I was happy they were all there when I signed.

"I came from League Two, but I've settled in now and ready to kick on."

After a period of being battered and bruised, he returned to the beautiful game and played across the pitch.

"There was one game against Manchester City when our goalkeeper broke his arm and I had to take his place.

"We were 2-1 down and it ended up 3-3 but the goal we conceded was an own-goal anyway so I’m not counting that!"
