Chelsea star Olivier Giroud and France team-mate Kylian Mbappe show why they’re world champions in training ground plea with Didier Deschamps
YOU don't get to be world champions without being fiercely determined and competitive... and France proved that in training.
During this international break, the World Cup-winning squad enjoyed a kickabout - and it got a touch heated.
Didier Deschamps called an end to the game, but must have announced the "wrong scoreline" - with Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud, representing "team orange", furious.
Mbappe had just finished off a well-worked goal in the training session before Deschamps called time for the evening, igniting the row.
Orange team-mate Moussa Sissoko kicked off the furore, saying: "There was one more goal for us. No, Kylian just scored!"
Deschamps replied: "It's them [the yellow jersey team] who scored."
Giroud chimed in with: "Yes, but they came back just after that..."
Before Mbappe looked to settle the argument, saying: "Coach, coach, let me explain to you.
"I scored with my left foot, then with my right... I just scored right there!"
Deschamps then hilariously gestured the VAR sign and stormed off to the dressing room.
Meanwhile, Deschamps has played down the budding rivalry between veteran forward Antoine Griezmann and new superstar Mbappe - who both scored four at the World Cup.
The France boss said: "No, there has never been any contradiction between them or one who wants to do more than the other one.
"They have been important, one after the other at a different time and also sometimes together.
"They are determined as they score goals and make a lot of goals. There is no struggle between them.
"In fact they are both here with us, not only them because there are other players, but it's a strong power for France."
