LEICESTER supporters honoured the club's owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha with a giant banner in the away end before their 1-0 victory over Cardiff this afternoon.

While Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel struggled to hold back the tears as he lined up to face the Bluebirds in Wales.

The Leicester players wore t-shirts in Vichai's memory as they warmed up for their Premier League encounter.

It is the first time that Leicester have played since the tragic helicopter crash last week that caused the death of the Thai billionaire, as well as Kaveporn Punpare, Nusara Suknamai, Izabela Roza Lechowicz and Eric Swaffer.

Claude Puel's side had their Carabao Cup tie with Southampton postponed this week following the horror incident.

Former Leicester ace Anthony Kncokaert - now plying his trade at Brighton - also honoured 'The Boss' wearing a t-shirt at Goodison Park ahead of the Seagulls' match against Everton.

While Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright and Everton owner Farhad Moshiri laid a wreath on the pitch in memory of those who died in the incident.

There was controversy later on as Leicester's Demarai Gray put Leicester one-nil up against Cardiff and took off his shirt to unveil a T-shirt tribute to his late boss - only to get booked. 

The seven-day funeral of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha started in Bangkok today, with his remains to be placed in a giant cold urn donated by the King of Thailand.

The Leicester squad will be paying their respects to their owner after their match against Cardiff, flying out to the Far East later today.

Vichai bought the club in 2010, overseeing the club cementing their place in the top-flight, while also becoming champions of England in the 2015/16 season.
