JESPER BLOMQVIST insists a raging Roy Keane was wrong to blame him for the booking that saw Manchester United's captain miss the 1999 Champions League final.
Keane accused the Swede of playing a poor pass that led him to foul Juventus' Zinedine Zidane and get a fatal yellow card.
The Irishman yelled at Blomqvist on the Turin pitch as it meant he would miss the final against Bayern Munich - but the former AC Milan winger now says that was laughable.
In a wide-ranging interview to be published in SunSport tomorrow, the 44-year-old said: "I've looked at that video again and I think even he can have a laugh about it. I don't think it was that bad.
"Of course he was angry because it was a big consequence.
"I was upset for him as well, to miss him and [Paul] Scholes in the final, I think that was one of the reasons we didn't reach our best level in the final.
"But I think it was a bit harsh to blame me for that yellow card."
LATEST MAN UNITED NEWS
Blomqvist, who spent three seasons at Old Trafford, is still amazed as he reflects on that Treble-winning season, where United also won the FA Cup and Premier League.
He said: "It still seems crazy that it happened.
"If you see two or three of the games: the Champions League final we managed to turn around, the FA Cup semi-final when [Ryan] Giggs scored we were one man down.
"And Juventus was a crazy turnaround. It's hard to understand how we managed to do it."
