Luke Shaw mocks Manchester United pal Paul Pogba for wacky penalty run up against Everton
Pogba took 27-steps to eventually have his penalty saved by Jordan Pickford, but the Frenchman was on hand to tuck the rebound away to give United the lead
LUKE SHAW poked fun at his Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba after his eccentric penalty run-up in the win over Everton.
Pogba took his usual bizarre approach to his spot kick at Old Trafford on Sunday, taking a staggering 27 steps that took almost 12 seconds before shooting for goal.
Toffees keeper Jordan Pickford saved his penalty, but the midfielder was on hand to follow up to give United a first-half lead.
Anthony Martial doubled their lead after the break, but Jose Mourinho's side held on for a vital win after Gylfi Sigurdsson's late reply from the penalty spot.
The French international admitted post-match he may have to rethink his penalty technique after missing his second spot-kick of the campaign.
But the England-left back saw the funny side of Pogba's penalty run up and came up with a few things he could have done himself while the spot kick was being taken.
Shaw tweeted: “Make a comeback in your career and renew your contract.”
His post was accompanied by the hashtag #ThingsYouCanDoDuringPogbasPenaltyRunUp.
Pogba has a mixed record from the penalty spot this season, scoring three out of five.
Shaw has been one of United’s best performers this season.
And his outstanding displays have been rewarded with a new five-year deal penned this month.
United are eighth in the Premier League after the Everton win and next up is trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.
