Paul Pogba urged to quit ‘pathetic’ penalty run-up after taking more than 30 steps in saved spot kick against Everton
Frenchman took almost 12 seconds from when the referee blew his whistle to striking the ball
MANCHESTER UNITED fans have begged Paul Pogba to stop his "ridiculous" penalty run-up after firing the Red Devils ahead against Everton.
The Frenchman made over 30 steps before seeing his spot kick saved by Jordan Pickford.
Fortunately for the £89million man, the ball rebounded into his path as he slotted into an empty net to spare his own blushes.
It took just under 12 seconds for Pogba to strike the ball after the referee had blown his whistle to take the kick.
His approach to the ball took so long that even fans inside Old Trafford couldn't help but groan.
Speaking after the game, Pogba admitted he was fortunate to get away with his effort.
He said: "I was lucky. The important thing is it went in and I scored the goal, good for us and me. After we carried on and had other chances, most important thing was the win.
"I always try and destabilize the keeper, maybe they know how I take penalties, maybe I should practice to change it, if the keepers know my step."
It is not the first time that Pogba has adopted the same technique having taken an eternity to take his penalty against Leicester earlier in the season.
Even Man United legend Gary Neville said "it is all for show."
And now fans are demanding Pogba switches his tactic when it comes to taking penalties with many quick to take the mick with a series of GIFS.
One said: "I couldn't watch that Pogba penalty. Longest penalty in the world. Then he misses and scores the rebound. He needs to stop this s***!"
Another commented: "Is Pogba incapable of doing anything normally?"
A frustrated viewer added: "What a pathetic run up from Pogba. Just approach the ball and hit the thing FFS!"
Some supporters believe United were lucky to win a penalty in the first place and claim Idrissa Gueye clearly won the ball.
One person commented: "Not a penalty at all that, Gueye got the ball."
Another said: "Never a penalty, a great tackle from Gueye. Shocking refereeing."
