Manchester United star Jesse Lingard returns to training the day after Jose Mourinho blames him for his injury lay-off… and now is in line to face Everton
JESSE LINGARD has returned to Manchester United training the day after Jose Mourinho blamed him for causing his own injury lay-0ff.
Old Trafford boss Mourinho revealed the England man, 25, is back at Carrington having previously played through a groin injury picked up at the World Cup.
Lingard hasn't played since the Carabao Cup loss to Derby last month but could play some part in tomorrow's game at Old Trafford.
Speaking on the injury, the typically outspoken Mourinho said: “He came from the World Cup with that problem.
“He thought wrongly that the holiday period would bring things to normality, then he thought wrongly that working or start to work would improve.
“Then he felt in an impossible situation to play football, so now he’s going back and to do the work to try and be 100 per cent."
But Mourinho did go on to say Lingard could be fit to return to solve United's striking woes.
The Special One added: “In this moment, he’s almost there because of the team’s needs, can he help us in the next match?
“That is the question we have to answer tomorrow or if we wait one more week so he’s almost there.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho reaffirmed Alexis Sanchez will not take part, saying: "In this moment he’s struggling and is not available for tomorrow again.”
