ARSENAL are reportedly leading the chase to lure Hamburg defender David Bates back to Britain following a number of impressive performances.
The Scottish youth international has established himself as a key player for the Bundesliga 2 side since joining from Rangers on a free transfer in the summer.
Bates has featured eight times for the Red Shorts in the German second-tier, with the club sitting fourth in the table.
According to the Sunday Mirror via the , the Gunners are one of a number of Premier League clubs vying for his signature.
Among the sides competing with Arsenal to land the talented centre-back include Everton, Southampton, Leicester and Watford.
It has been reported that club scouts have been sent to watch Bates in action.
Bates has kept six clean sheets when starting at the heart of defence, where he has been dubbed as the 'Ginger Ramos' by the club.
He was called up to Scotland's Under-21 side for the recent U-21 European Championship qualifiers.
The youngster isn't the only starlet that Arsenal are chasing, with reports linking Unai Emery's side to Ipswich's teenage right-back Dylan Crowe.
It has been claimed that the North London giants have stolen a march on Manchester United as they look to lure the 17-year-old away from Portman Road.
