Speaking to , he said: "I believe that Germany needs Ozil. I hope that Low can convince him that he will come back.

"Ozil is a super football player and was not the worst in the World Cup. I did not like that he left the team.

"A little bit of motivation disappears when you know that you do not have to be ready for the World Cup and European Championship.

"I love it when the player is as good as possible. If he does not play on an international level, a bit is lost."

But that isn't the opinion shared by Spaniard Emery, who believes that Ozil's time off will result in him developing as a player.

He said: "International breaks are not easy if you have to play two matches.

"When players stop this, maybe it can help them focus more for us, with training and improving things.

"It could help Mesut to find our ideas more quickly."

Ozil is in line to feature against Leicester at the Emirates tomorrow night after missing the 5-1 rout against Fulham due to back spasms.

The 30-year-old has featured eight times in all competitions this season, chipping in with three goals.
