Transfer news: Jack Butland to use Wayne Rooney’s agency to return to Premier League
Stopper was frustrated this summer after failing to land a move away from relegated Stoke
JACK BUTLAND will use Wayne Rooney’s agency to return to the Premier League.
The England goalkeeper is leaving Beswicks Sports and is poised to join the ranks of Triple S Sports and Entertainment Group, who guided Rooney’s glittering career.
Butland grew frustrated at failing to get a top-flight move following relegation with Stoke and looked for a new representation.
The 25-year-old’s move to Triple S has yet to be formalised but is expected to be announced after the international break.
They are run by super-agent Paul Stretford, who negotiated Rooney’s deals during a career that saw him get the Three Lions captaincy.
Harry Maguire is also a Triple S client and they oversaw Angus Gunn’s £10million to Southampton this summer but Butland was also looking to move to a Prem club but ended up staying at the Bet365 Stadium.
Chelsea were in the market for a No1 after Thibaut Courtois’ departure but ended up breaking the world record for a goalkeeper by signing Kepa Arrizabalaga for £71.6million.
Liverpool splashed out on Alisson Becker, leaving Butland’s options limited to move to a Champions League club.

Butland was with Beswicks for eight years but decided not to renew his rep agreement with them.
He was also frustrated at failing to get game time at the World Cup after losing his place to Jordan Pickford.
