HARRY REDKNAPP believes John Terry is in pole position to be appointed Aston Villa manager.
Thierry Henry last night appeared to take a step closer to being named Villa boss after the club hit a brick wall in their attempts to prise Brendan Rodgers away from Celtic.
"He's a runner, that's for sure."
Chelsea legend Terry, 37, retired from football this week, having spent his final season at Villa Park.
, with the club 15th in the Championship.
Bruce guided the club to a 13th-place finish and play-off runners-up in his two seasons in charge.
Redknapp says former Liverpool manager Rodgers would relish the promotion challenge - should Celtic let him go.
He said: "He's done it all, won it all in Scotland.
"I'm sure he'd love to come back now.
"I know they're not Premier League but Villa are a club that have certainly got potential to get back into the Premier League.
"I'm sure he'd love the opportunity to come back and manage in England again."
