Arsenal adidas kit: Ian Wright’s delight over return of three stripe kit… but what would modern stars look like in the iconic ‘Bruised Banana’ strip?
SunSport takes a look at how the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hector Bellerin could look in retro kit
IAN WRIGHT is over the moon that Arsenal have reunited with adidas to create their new kits.
The Gunners announced the German sportswear giant will replace Puma as their shirt sponsors in a deal worth £300million.
Adidas made Arsenal's kits between 1986 and 1994, winning the old First Division twice in that era under George Graham.
Between 1991 and 1994 they wore the classic "Bruised Banana" kit - so iconic it has its own name.
Wright, who wore an adidas strip during his playing days, replied to the official announcement with a picture of himself in a retro Gunners top and three heart emojis.
He followed that up with a number of social media posts gushing about the old adidas kits.
Most fans shared Wright's views, with calls for the "Bruised Banana" to make a comeback.
One Twitter user wrote: "Bring back the banana kit."
Another added: "Delighted with our adidas deal. Massive coup. They make good kits also! Well done Arsenal."
While SunSport columnist Wrighty, 54, cannot wait to see what Arsenal's stars will be wearing as of next season, how will the current crop of players feel?
