Arsenal's current agreement with Puma is worth around £30m a season - meaning their kit sponsorship revenue would double.

It is thought the £60m-a-year adidas deal will last until 2024.

The club this morning announced: "Arsenal and adidas have agreed a new kit partnership, effective from July 1, 2019."

Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who wore an adidas strip during his playing days with the club, was quick to express his delight at the news with a tweet featuring three heart emojis.

The Gunners wore adidas kits between 1986 and 1994, winning the old First Division title twice during that era under George Graham.

Those retro strips are fashionable again now though, with vintage adidas uniforms selling online for many times their original price.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also have their kits manufactured by the sportswear giants.

United's adidas agreement is worth £75m every 12 months, while Nike pay Chelsea £60m per annum over 15 years.

A replica Arsenal kit currently costs £157.
