Mourinho shook hands and even posed for photos with fans as he left his hotel - checking his phone on his way to the car.

But as soon as he got in his vehicle to head to Old Trafford he turned to the cameras and wagged his little finger.

Supporters have been speculating as to the gesture - with some believing it to be some sort of protest, while others come up with more a cheeky suggestion that it was to do with small manhood.

Mourinho first unveiled his pinky finger signal after the Champions League bore draw with Valencia midweek.

Meanwhile, club legend Gary Neville has taken a massive swipe at the Man United board for their treatment of the on-running Mourinho soap opera.

Neville said: "I love that club to death but something has to change and it is not the manager.

"Jose Mourinho will get the biggest support of his life in the ground and I will be there to give it to him.

Elsewhere, United have been forced to reject claims Mourinho will be sacked this weekend... regardless of the result against Newcastle.

United labelled the claims as "nonsense" this morning and said that their manager is not under immediate threat.

The club were hitting back at claims Mourinho was set to be sacked this weekend after United's worst start to a season in 29 years.
