PSG star Adrien Rabiot edging towards Barcelona move after ‘secret meeting with director of football Eric Abidal’
Catalan newspaper claims Rabiot has already turned down four offers to sign a new contract in France and will join Barca
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN star Adrien Rabiot is edging closer towards a move to Barcelona after a secret meeting with Eric Abidal.
The French midfielder, 23, is out of contract at PSG next summer and at present would be eligible to leave on a free transfer in July 2019.
A Catalan newspaper claim Rabiot has already turned down FOUR offers of a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
The report also suggests both player and Barcelona have a deal in place for the midfielder to join the Nou Camp ranks next summer.
The rumours have only been further fuelled after Barcelona director of football Abidal and Rabiot were said to have met in private.
Most recently, Premier League-target Rabiot turned down a £9million-a-year deal to stay at the Ligue 1 champions.
However, the former Manchester City academy product is rejecting the mega-bucks deals to force a move to England or Spain - and is not driven by money.
Meanwhile, Barca will not be without competition for Rabiot - with Tottenham reportedly eyeing up a cut-price January deal for the Frenchman.
Manchester City are also keen to tie Rabiot down to a pre-contract in order to beat Barcelona to the star man.
Juventus are one other major European player mulling over a swoop for the contract-rebel.
