Jadon Sancho signs new long-term Borussia Dortmund deal to ward off Premier League giants
England starlet Sancho, 18, has taken the Bundesliga by storm since quitting Man City for Dortmund and has been rewarded with new contract until 2022
JADON SANCHO has signed a new four-year deal with Borussia Dortmund after taking the Bundesliga by storm.
England starlet Sancho, 18, has been a revelation since forcing his way into the Dortmund first team last season.
And with Premier League clubs starting to track the teenager in the hope of offering him a lucrative move back to England, the the German club have acted quickly to tie him down.
Sancho has penned a deal until the end of the 2022, with the club believing the under-17 World Cup winners is one of the best young talents in football.
The club's sporting director Michael said: "Jadon Sancho is certainly one of the most exciting players in Europe.
"With the contract extension, we take account of his very, very positive development."
Sancho decided to reject the chance of a lucrative deal at Manchester City last year in favour of testing himself by moving to Germany.
He felt that at 17, it was better for his long-term development as a player to join Dortmund than wait in the wings for an opportunity at the Etihad where the squad is littered with star players.
He said: "I am very glad that I decided to change to Dortmund just over a year ago, because everything turned out to be true: this city lives football like no other, and at BVB young players are given opportunities.
"Here I can develop excellently. I am completely happy and satisfied and proud to be part of this team. Here's something great! "
Sancho has already made 18 Bundesliga appearances for the club, and is this season part of their Champions League plans.
He has long been part of the England set-up, with Gareth Southgate monitoring his progress closely as he looks to bring in the best young talent in the country.
And it is believed the youngster will be accelerated into the next under-21 squad as England look to step up his progress.
