Real Madrid were thought to be lining-up Poch to replace Zinedine Zidane this summer, only for the Spurs chief to sign a new contract.

The Galacticos then swooped for Spain boss Julen Lopetegui as Pochettino put pen to paper on a new five-year deal.

While the meeting is surely nothing more than a friendly catch-up, it is likely to upset a handful of Spurs fans.

After all, earlier this summer, Pochettino admitted if Real Madrid come knocking, “you have to listen“.

Poch told El Confidencial: “When Real Madrid call you, you have to listen to them.

“Although in this case it doesn’t depend on me. I have just signed a long contract with Tottenham and I am very happy here.

“I am happy at Tottenham because they let me work and we are growing together.

“There will be lots of rumours, lots of things said, but I have no news from Real Madrid.”
