ANTON FERDINAND could become Oran Kearney's first St Mirren signing.
The former West Ham, Sunderland and QPR defender, 33, trained with the Buddies this morning ahead of Friday night's clash against .
Ferdinand - brother of Manchester United legend Rio - is a free agent after ripping up his contract with Southend on August 31.
New boss Kearney wants to shore up his leaky defence and is running the rule over the experienced stopper.
And should Ferdinand impress, he could be handed a contract until the end of the season.
The capture of former England youth star would prove a major coup for Kearney, who replaced Alan Stubbs in the hotseat last week.
Ferdinand started off his career at West Ham, making over 100 appearances for the London club.
He was snapped up by Sunderland boss Roy Keane in 2008, before joining Queens Park Rangers three years later.
The centre-half spent a year in Turkey with Bursaspor and Antalyaspor before a brief spell in Thailand.
Ferdinand returned to England in 2016 with Reading and skippered Southend United before leaving the League One club last month.
