Hugo Lloris out of France clash against Germany as Tottenham star struggles with thigh injury
Les Bleus' captain missed Spurs' 2-1 defeat at Watford and is now set to miss Uefa Nations League game on Thursday
HUGO LLORIS has been ruled out of France's clash with Germany, as the Tottenham star struggles with a thigh injury.
Les Bleus' captain, 31, missed Spurs' 2-1 defeat at Watford with the niggle and is now set to miss the World Cup winners' Uefa Nations League opener on Thursday.
Paris Saint-Germain No1 Alphonse Areola is now tipped to win his first senior France cap, with usual No2 Steve Mandanda also out of the squad.
Over the weekend, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was quick to play-down Lloris' absence for the defeat at Vicarage Road.
Ahead of the game, Poch said: "Of course he's going to miss the game against Watford, but we hope for Liverpool he will be ready again.
"It's not a big issue."
Last month, Lloris was arrested after being caught drink-driving following a night out on the town with pals.
After his arrest, the No1 was apologetic, saying: "I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my team-mates, the manager and all of the supporters.
“Drink-driving is completely unacceptable. I take full responsibility for my actions and it is not the example I wish to set.”
However, Pochettino revealed he never once considered stripping Lloris of the captaincy following the incident.
