Stoke ace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has PSG medical on European transfer deadline day
Boss Thomas Tuchel confirms he is trying to complete a last-ditch swoop for the Potters forward and Bayern Munich's Juan Bernat
STOKE forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is closing in on a shock move to Paris Saint-Germain.
SunSport exclusively revealed the moneybags Ligue 1 outfit were chasing the Cameroon ace.
And PSG chief Thomas Tuchel has confirmed £15million-rated Choupo-Moting is having a medical alongside Bayern Munich defender Juan Bernat, with the window closing at 5pm.
He said: "It is August 31. It is very late, perhaps too late.
"I am not going to lie, we are trying to get both players to sign - they are undergoing their medicals now. I do not know if others will follow."
Stoke are willing to get £60,000-a-week Choupo-Moting, 29, off their books as they look to rebuild following relegation from the Premier League.
Tuchel confirmed the striker is being signed to add depth to PSG's star-studded squad - explaining that his arrival could affect youngster Timothy Weah.
He added: "We have been looking for a back-up to Edinson Cavani for a while. Eric Maxim gave us an opportunity.
"He is a player of top quality and can impact games from the bench.
"We wanted a strong player, able to hold the ball up and dominate aerially.
"His arrival will influence Timothy Weah's future. That said, they are different types of player."
