JUNINHO BACUNA had a debut to forget for Huddersfield after banging in a last-gasp 40-yard own goal against Stoke in the Carabao Cup.

The 21-year-old midfielder was attempting to clear the ball, but instead inadvertently sliced it beyond goalkeeper Jonas Lossl - who came rushing out of his area.

Attempting to save face, the Dutch youth international went off injured - but the damage had already been done with his comical gaffe.

Bacuna - brother of Reading ace Leandro - was making his first appearance under David Wagner since joining from Groningen in June.

It compounded an awful night for the Terriers who were dumped out of the cup after losing 2-0 against the Potters.

The match was full of plenty of talking points with Sadio Berahino opening the scoring at the bet365 Stadium.

It was the ex-West Brom striker's first goal in two-and-a-half-years - ending a run of 47 games without finding the back of the net.

His strike looked to be the winner for Championship side Stoke - but Bacuna left his mark on the game in epic fashion.

Huddersfield are yet to win this season, having lost twice and drew once in their opening three Premier League matches.

They will be hoping to end their winless run away to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday before the international break.
