Liverpool did not inform Simon Mignolet of Loris Karius exit as goalkeeper admits he’s in the dark over Anfield future
Reds shipped Karius on loan to Besiktas - who were interested in a deal for Mignolet - after the £68m Alisson buy
SIMON MIGNOLET has revealed Liverpool failed to tell him Loris Karius was joining Besiktas on a two-year loan deal.
The Reds shipped Karius off to the Turkish giants - who were interested in a deal for Mignolet earlier this summer - after the £68million purchase of Alisson.
Mignolet revealed the German's exit has changed nothing about his own future as he remains desperate to play regular first-team football.
He said: ”[Karius leaving] doesn’t change anything.
"I made it clear that I want to play regularly and being No2 doesn’t change that.
"There haven’t been talks [between myself and] Liverpool. I don’t know what my future holds."
Mignolet was also a shock target for Barcelona - who were looking to bring-in a back-up keeper of their own with Jasper Cillessen at one stage seemingly on the way out.
However, the Belgian is still adamant he will only leave to be a club's first-choice and is now running out of time to force a move away.
Should Mignolet negotiate an escape route, Liverpool would be forced to turn to youngsters Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher as back-up.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has sent Karius a sweet message after he completed his move to the Turkish Super Lig.
